The King is dead, long live the Queen.

It is with great sadness, that the nation has learned, that King Frederick the Ninth is dead. we will remember with gratitude, King Frederick's deed as king of Denmark. The Danish society, has experienced a rich development through the 25 years, King Frederick was the country's dignified head of state. We greet Denmark's new head of state. And wishes her happiness in her life and deed, and therefore for Denmark. I will according to Danish State practice 3 times proclaim: King Frederick the Ninth is dead, long live her Majesty Queen Margrethe the Second. All warm thoughts go out to here. The deed which for nearly 25 years was my fathers, is now placed on my shoulders, and I pray to god, help me get the strength to lift this heavy legacy. The love and faithfulness as the Danish people in all these years have shown my Dad, was the very foundation of his deed as king. May the trust showed my father, also be granted me. That is the support that will make me able to perform my duties as queen of Denmark. this shall be my life's goal, and there I will lie all my hard work, and all my strength, so help me god.
