French President Francois Hollande received a warm welcome at the White House on Tuesday...where
he is on the first full state visit to the United States by a French leader in nearly
two decades. Speaking to reporters after talks with U.S.
President Barack Obama and ahead of a black-tie state dinner, Hollande said the two countries
had restored their trust in one another after revelations of widespread U.S. snooping.
The two leaders also discussed the conflict in Syria and Iran's disputed nuclear program.
On Wednesday, Hollande will travel to San Francisco and meet the CEOs of Silicon Valley
giants, including Facebook, Twitter and Google. The trip comes as a welcome break for Hollande
as the French leader is mired in desperately low approval ratings at home and a love triangle
gone bad.
