So I'm here with the very gorgeous Velda Tan, (hi!) who always looks good! I stalk you on
Instagram (okaaaay...), so I gotta say I love your outfits.
Thank you! Can you describe your personal style?
Well, my personal style is actually what I really feel comfortable in and I really like
classic pieces with sort of like a twist to it. So like a blazer, but maybe with no sleeves;
or like a tailored shirt but with a special pocket or something. Yeah so I am more towards
classic styles. Because I think these pieces can give a lot more millage and you can kind
of pair them with a lot more things than the things that are more in-trend...
And you can wear them for years and years, and no one has to know. right?
So I've gotta ask, because everyone has been asking as well (okay!), how do you start building
an outfit? Like do you work from the shoes up, or do you have a look that you have in
mind; like you want to look 'girly' today or whatever?
Okay basically I like to piece things together. I always go for separates; I'm not so much
a dress kind of person. So what I would start with would probably be the top, because I
think the attention is always here, you know, not so much at the bottom. So I would start
from the top, and then I'd find a blouse or a tee that I would really like to wear that
day, and then maybe go rummage through my bottoms and find something that goes well
with it. I start dressing from the bottom! It's always
the shoes or the...I don't know - But maybe you really like shoes!
Yeah I like shoes and I like bottoms! So like I have tons of bottoms and then...okay, I
need to buy tops to match the bottoms! Any fashion icons?
Fashion icons yes, definitely Kate Moss. She's so classic and recently because Instagram
is so popular, there are a couple on Instagram like California girl, Song of Style, she's
very laid-back, you know - I love her too!
Yeah I know! Everybody loves her! I think she's very relateable to Singaporeans also
- because it's Cali-style, right? (The clothes
are) not so warm - And it's not so like, prim and proper, you
know, it's very laid-back... Do you have any deep, dark fashion disasters,
or a time when you wore something like, "whaaaaat?!"; after that when you looked at pictures you
went like, "Oh no!"?
