My name is Petar Georgiev, and I work as a software design engineer at ASML.
I work in one of the embedded software departments at ASML.
We are responsible not only for the drivers of the machine,
but also for the so-called CPDs.
They are standalone applications used to calibrate the machine,
measure the performance and also diagnose the machine.
And the programming language that we use is Python.
When a new machine is installed at the customer,
this machine has to be calibrated in order to work according to specifications.
This is where the CPDs come in handy
by automating this delicate process.
And you'll never get bored here because
at the end, what is the software without the hardware
and what is the hardware without the software?
My latest project was to develop a CPD
that automates the cleaning sequence of a very critical part of the machine,
which now takes 30 minutes instead of 5 hours of manual labor.
And now this CPD is used by every machine at our customers.
The most satisfying moment was when I pressed the start button
and I saw my software working from the beginning to the end
exactly how I wanted it to be.
And that gave me a real kick.
I love the atmosphere at ASML.
I work with all different kinds of people,
people from different countries, from all different ages, from all kinds of technical backgrounds.
And I get to learn a lot from them
and I also hope that they learn from me as well.
