Are you planning a wedding at the Marin County Civic Center? The Marin County
Clerk's Office wants to make your civil wedding ceremony memorable and easy!
Before getting married at the Marin Civic Center, you will need to obtain
a Marriage License from the Marin County Clerk's Office.
Remember, your marriage becomes official only after a wedding ceremony has been
performed and your license has been registered with the County of Marin.
Civil wedding ceremonies can be performed by either a Marin County
Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriages
or you can ask a friend or relative who is 18 years or older to be sworn in as a
Marriage Commissioner for your marriage.
If you have chosen a marriage commissioner to perform the ceremony,
he or she must appear in person at the Marin County Clerk's office any weekday
prior to the ceremony
and they'll need to provide their full name and photo ID, the date and location the
ceremony will take place, and the $60 application fee.
At that time, your official will be sworn in by an oath of office for your specific ceremony.
Civil weddings are performed in the Marriage License Division of the
County Clerk's Office, Room 234. Weather permitting the Civic Center
garden and fountain areas make an attractive setting for your ceremony.
You must bring one witness with you to the ceremony.
However, for a confidential ceremony no witnesses are required.
Whether your wedding is small or large, indoors or outdoors, the County of Marin
Assessor-Recorder and County Clerk's offices want to make it exciting and easy.
