Hello. I'm Matt Cail and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you today how to
survive a big family Thanksgiving. Don't eat, you'll spoil your appetite! How many of us
heard this growing up? Probably a lot. This general rule of thumb is void on Thanksgiving.
Forget it! Toss it out with the bath water! No way! If you want to cut down on stress
on Thanksgiving, you have food! You have food all day long. I have yet to see someone who's
appetite was truly ruined to a Thanksgiving dinner of all ages. So, have good snacks.
Have good snacks for your guests. Have the little sausages, cheese, sea food, oysters,
crackers, dips and nice chips. It doesn't have to be junk food. It can be nice. Put
things out on little snack trays. Have your little toothpicks in there. It involves a
little bit of time and planning, but this will lower stress levels immensely. People
say "oh, don't worry, dinner will get done when it gets done." They care. After smelling
the food preparation for a couple of hours, they start caring a lot. After a while, people
even start to get grumpy. Snacks take the edge off their expectations for the main course
on the Thanksgiving table. So, definitely, have snacks. Plan in advance. Usually a trip
to the grocery store will get it done. There will be a lot cheaper than whatever you are
spending on your Thanksgiving dinner, and it will keep a lot of people happy. And by
all means, indulge a little bit yourself. You'll be fine for Thanksgiving dinner.
