In this video we will add a tower to a complex roof.
Let’s start from a regular hip roof.
Let’s select the roof and click one of the corner points of the pivot polygon.
Activate the Fillet command on the appearing pet palette to create an additional curved roof plane.
In this new curved plane let’s again select the pivot line and use the “curve edge”
option to adjust the radius of the curve and create the tower shape.
Let’s open it in 3D,… here we can also further adjust the curve radius, similarly to the floor-plan view.
Let’s click the curved pivot line again and now select the “Custom Plane Settings”.
Enter 60 degrees for the angle of the pitch,…
and Change the top material to Glass.
Let’s choose the “Apply changes to clicked plane” from the pop-up and click OK to leave the dialog.
The improved Complex roof tool allows us to easily create and add sub roofs and towers
to the main roof geometry, keeping the whole roof structure in one.
