Hi everyone, Melissa here, back blogging from my bathroom, talking today about how to save
money when it comes to buying clothes for your kids. Five kids, and I've really had
to economize and strategize when it comes what I buy and when. So here are my tried
and true tips for saving money when it comes to children's clothing. It's summer, but don't
forget back to school is just around the corner. Number one thing, buy big. I buy extremely
big. For my girls this means, the first year they're in a long dress, à la "Little House
on the Prairie". Remember that show? And for the boys it means for the first year, they
have pants that are rolled up, and they have a shirt that is too long, and I roll up the
sleeves. And they look a little bit like a clown or a rapper, but they don't seem to
mind. Second thing is buy off-season or at the end of a season. Never buy right before
a season. So for now, right now it's July. It's actually a great time to buy discounted
bathing suits, spring clothing that didn't sell out; great time to buy. So think about
when you're buying and anticipate, and buy big, buy for next year, buy even for two years
out. This is what I do. And store your clothes away somewhere safe. Okay, the third thing,
time and pounce like a panther on those sales when they happen. And here's what I do. I
keep track of these online sales. Once they go to free shipping, I'm starting to perk
up and get really interested. And I look around, I look at the inventory, and I usually buy
that second discount when it's really starting to get heavily discounted, but I don't wait
until the end because at that point, the stuff is so picked over there's nothing left, and
it's slim pickings. So, anyway this is what I do when it comes to trying to economize
and get a lot of use out of my children's clothes. And obviously, we have a lot of hand-me-downs.
But I want to here what you do, so please let me know by commenting on my blog on cloudmom.com
