Siris is the common name of the Albizia, the silk tree, and it is also an acronym of Silk Rode Information Systems.
We chose the name because three of us have been working in Central Asia for fifteen years
and, actually, our first aim was to create a knowledge management system for Central Asia.
SIRIS Academic was created in 2010 in France
after the government decided to invest a large amount of money in Research and Higher Education
In a very short time, projects had to be written, with a process led to many strategic projects being written, in a very short time period, in order to define the future of French universities.
We were lucky to be there at the time, and we were employed to write some of these projects
about the future of Research and Higher Education in France.
If I were to explain SIRIS Academic to a child
I would say, I would tell them to imagine a room full of toys
toys all of different kinds, Lego®, bricks, dolls, little cars,...
and I would tell them that we are here to help them invent a game
in which all the different toys can take part
The three words I would use to define SIRIS Academic are: creativity, solidarity and knowledge transfer.
In three words, I would define SIRIS as connecting knowledge and ideas
Three words for SIRIS? Research orientation - Organizational development - Humanity!
To define SIRIS Academic with three words , I'd choose:
(1) "knowledge", for we are researchers, working in universities and laboratories and deal with the creation of knowledge
; (2) "society", because we are always trying not only to produce knowledge, but to make sure it is socially useful and accessible knowledge,
(3) "critical mind", because when we work on a project, we try to bring an external point of view, a critical vision
and want to raise questions to improve each project. So those are the three words which, for me, define SIRIS Academic. So those are three words which, for me, define SIRIS Academic
