think also the number of tasks you
have
to do to
maintain the store, so when, when companies change their prices, having to re-key the
tills so that the scanners work, there's just so many tasks to be done and to be maintained,
to make sure that the place runs smoothly, so I've got total respect for Sharan who runs
this place, it's not an easy job by any means and she clearly does a great job of it.
How's it going so far, am I doing all right?
SP You're doing great but you've made quite an impression on the customers already.
PS Yeah, hopefully not got in the way of too many so...?
SP No, no, it's passing trade where we are so every day's different, depends if we've
got different events on in the area, if there's meetings, you know, it just, if schools are
in the area playing across the road in the goals, going from one counter to the other!
PS Absolutely.
SP Trying to do everything like super woman but...
PS Absolutely.
SP Right, our tills have everything scanned into them so every time we bring a new item
into the store, we put the name in and the price in so we just scan it.
PS Scan it? Thank you, that's £6...

PS Fantastic, so oops a daisy ... so it's one, I had a really patient customer was very
nice and he had two transactions, which meant I got to practice twice which was good.
SP Phil's been great today, I think he's enjoyed his time in the shop, it was a nice time with
the customers, I think Phil has realised how many fridges and fixtures that we do actually
have to plug into the electric supply and I think it's quite shocked him today.
It's nice to have that one to one with everybody rather than it's just somebody on a telephone
line at the other end. I think it will be great for npower to do this on a regular basis,
to have that one to one with their customers and that special relationship, like you do
with your bank manager!

One of the things that struck me was how much electricity is used by a business such as,
such as this and so many aspects of it, you have little control over so you can turn the
till off overnight but you can't turn off many of the other technologies like the Lottery
terminals.
Going forwards, this has been a really important insight for me that we will be using to look
at developing new offers and also just simply how we engage with businesses like Perry Park
Stores. So I think there's real depth of learning out of experiences like I've had today and
I'm really appreciative of their time and kindness in letting me come and see their
business.
