we are in our executive branch and legislative branches bought by
corporations and lobbyists but it turns out that our judicial branches also baat
okay and i already most of you guys are a suspected that but now there's actual
study that was conducted by the brenner sent brennan's that center for justice
at n_y_u_
and ad they look at all these different cases where it's a print court state
supreme courts
pat a conflict of interest okay where corporation or a lobbyist
donated money or company donated money to and judges campaign and then the
judge ruled in favor of them innate case right
so they can buy example of that case back in two thousand seven west virginia
and the west virginia supreme court
uh... vote in favor of the eight coal company right in the coal company was
facing a class action lawsuit because i have at some of that uh... if damages
that some of their employees suffered as a result of working for the company
well at the coal company had funded the elections of that some of that judge
judges that ruled on that case
and of course the judges voted in their favor there's a lot of questions
uh... still look the minute by so it is being elected
however many years ago that was i thought that idea jeans ok that is a bad
idea in a non corrupt system
because he still this posting terminal all this was the legal experts
i know but look at the same time and this is nice to try i but if you subject
them to
the popular weldon big
are not doing that and uh... then they're responding to the popular well
not once in the letter of the law and institution shows the different branch
of government before she should elect
your legislatures the passed the law according to popular well
but the judge is interning outlaw should not be subject to the same pressure
gadre
so the bad idea to begin with melanie add on top of it
or corrupt system
where people get elected get elected based purely on the money in ninety four
percent of people in
are the ones who have more money in an election
won the golf course ten judges are going well this is seven
role in the direction of the companies that have a lot of money at stake in
from the court's but i think they'd do not recused themselves in those cases
how ranger is outrageous and also what about cases where uh... judge is not
seeking election or running a campaign right so if the first as it comes to
mind is much of a relatively status for cash outright handle and are funded by
private prisons
and as a result of that he he became a millionaire because of that and as a
result
he would put addthis kitty
teenagers in juvenile detention centers
for months for tiny little
and sometimes years yeah this because the now that was illegal there was a
kick back and use it using direct cash anyone i'm going to jail for trade
money is the same as senate either way but instead when you say to a justice
legalized bribery and i'm gonna give you a boom money so you can win this
election and then hands get paid your salary and have the prestigious at our
center and then when my kids come through for you i mean i give you maybe
ten thousand cases with ten million
you rule in my paper
it's we've set up a system
that encourages corruption and now we've done it for the judiciary it said
terrible idea
it is a terrible idea about what i'm curious about is you know we have some
states that are now you know that still appoint judges the governor will point
the judges for the state supreme court
and in their other states who don't do that that don't do that they have um...
the elections
how do we know move back to all be having appointed judges within the state
supreme courts
will you have the one real that whole process back in so many different states
goes every state has a different way
and you gotta go state by state and try to make the judges on elected in
appointed at the same time people so they get appointed by corrupt people
anyway that's how we wound up with this wilbur supreme court in the first place
when nixon figured out a lot and i just think people from like the chamber of
commerce are people who say i swear i will always vote in favor of of the
business interests not put them on the supreme court
faster than the nineteen seventies aware that situation we have now how you dress
all that
you cut off the case cash to the politicians in the first place
wolf dash back dot com on that same a m just set okay
not a big deal warfare
