>> Hey, I'm Milly! >> And I'm Christian.
>> And we're members of the Young Adult Council and we are here
on the roof of the Steppenwolf Garage. >>And we're excited to talk to you
about the shows in Steppenwolf for Young Adults' 2013/14 season.
>>This year we've got incredible plays lined up, all under one theme.
>>"When the game turns deadly, how will you play?"
>>I think it's time that we met the director. >>Shall we? >>Let's do this.
((guitar riffs))
>>So could you tell us a little bit about Lord of the Flies?
>>Sure, so Lord of the Flies is the famous classic book by William Golding.
You really get to that action quickly and you get to watch the behavior
of these boys who all land on an island
together and there's no adults anywhere and you're not really sure
how and why they're all there and whether or not civilization has fallen apart away from them.
>>What personally draws you to Lord of the Flies?
>>I think as a theatrical piece, as something live on stage for us to see
it's such a wonderful opportunity for us to get really physical, you know?
I love plays that have dirt and blood and physicality.
We get to have rugby games on stage and murders and a pig's head on a stake
and a lot of dancing and drumming there's just a ton of opportunity
for spectacle and real fun.

>>To start off, could you tell us a little bit about Leveling Up?
>>So this play is about four characters and it's really their journey
to entering the real world and growing up.
One of the characters, Ian, is the best gamer. He has won championships
and he may -- he earns a living playing games.
He gets a job at the government with the NSA.
He's recruited for drone warfare and everything goes topsy-turvy.
>>So, come on Hallie, give me the scoop: Do you play video games?
>>Okay, so here's the thing:
I'll like to program plays that I don't -- like I'm trying to find an answer to.
I don't play video games except for maybe Candy Crush. ((Christian laughs))
But I don't -- I don't play video games and I know people who play them all the time
and are addicted to them and I don't -- I don't understand.
I'm trying to understand that.
>>Okay, so we hope you enjoyed hearing from our directors
about Lord of the Flies and Leveling Up.
>>Teachers, students, parents, we would love to see all of you here.
>>And if you still unsure, check out this sneak peek of our upcoming season.
>>And we'll see you at the theatre.
