Hello everyone, and welcome to SchoolPsychInfo.
Today we're going to be taking a look at the first of several text-to-speech apps,
which we've downloaded.
The first one we are going to be taking a look at is called iSpeech.
This is a free app
available on the app store,
and there'll be a link down below.
And it's really simple. All you need to do to get started is tap and start typing,
and it will read whatever text you've entered.
So I've got something here already...
and you came here a sample of how the voice sounds.
(Female computer voice begins speaking) "This is a test to hear how the voice sounds for the iOS app, iSpeech."
So as you can hear, it sounds pretty natural, and it's a very pleasant sounding voice.
They is one other voice that it comes with... That was the US English female...
but it also comes with the UK female voice...
for free. There are other additional voices including foreign language voices
and male voices which you can get as an in-app purchase for $0.99 each.
I thought that this app had the most natural sounding voice
of all the ones that looked at, but there are a couple of things that I
don't really like about it. One thing is that you must be online to be able to
and use the app.
It needs online access,
so if you're offline or you don't have internet access you can't use it.
Also, it is not be able to run in the background so if I were to you put this on...
(Computer voice starts speaking)
and closed the app (computer voice stops speaking) it turns the voice off, so you can't do something else at
the same time is you're listening.
But it does allow you to do... (Computer voice resumes speaking and then finishes)
It does allow you to save
files so you can go right here and hit save and it will show up right here.
The other thing that I don't like about this is that it can only convert a
limited amount of text at a time, and if you tried to putting too much text at once,
it will not even do anything. It won't even cut it off it just won't do
it at all. So, it's limited in the amount of text that it will speak at a time.
So that was one negative on this one, but for a free app, it's pretty good value.
If you only need to convert small amounts of text at a time and want a
really natural sounding voice, then this might be a good app for you.
Thanks for watching this review by SchoolPsychInfo, and we'll see you next time.
