Like you, I used to be a missing person. Lost, disoriented.
I was saved, and brought here to this refuge. My name is Sem. Welcome... to Asphodel.
(Spanish)
(Portal Sound)
(Foot Steps)(Radio Sound: Sem log: 5280. Found the traveler faster then normal Otto.)
(Radio: What ever adjustments you made to the machine helped a lot. Traveler is a white Caucasian female. Age?)
(I'm guessing mid 20's.)
(Her vitals... (beep) Vitals are normal. Blood pressure is 130 over 85.)
(Found her in a cave. Period appears to be 1700's, new world. She has a piece of cloth under her head, so I'm guessing someone must have found her before I did. )
(By the way Otto. Way to make a call on the rain!) (Thunder)( Radio: The armor is soaking wet and I'm not exactly... (Spanish) ***. Someone is coming.)
(I got to get her out of here. Sem.)
5280. (Running footsteps) (Chasing footsteps) (Explosions) (Portal noise)
(Mom on Phone: Ally, you need to mange yourself a little better is all I'm saying. You can't work two jobs and expect to mange your schooling at the same time in order to pay for it. I know you don't want me or your father helping, but he and I agree we should loan you the money and you can pay us back when you can.)
Mom, I can't do that.
You and dad already need that money. You got your own bills to pay off. Ryans car insurance
for example since he got in trouble
You still haven't finished redesigning the kitchen, and dads meds.
Look i'm old enough to take care of myself now.
Ally: I'm twenty three years old damn it. Watch your mouth. Look, the kitchen can wait and Ryan just got his first job in order to pay for his insurance. Your pushing your self too hard. And your fathers bills aren't that expensive.
At least try to find a job that will pay for both or at least take a break from school, until you find a job that can support you, or you make enough money. You don't need to be taking out so many student loans. Your in debt till your my age.
I promise mom, I can handle it. I can make my own hours while working at the rec center,
and I can get plenty of sleep before I go to my other job.
(Thought) Though I may be stretching the truth a bit.
I still only get two hours of sleep before my night job.
Then another two before I have to go to class in the middle of the day. (Mom) Why don't you ask David to loan you some money?
You know he just got that great job as a stock broker. And you two used to be such a great couple.
No mom! I am not asking David!
I'm not asking him for anything the rest of my life.
He already tried to own me once. If I have him give me money
he'll just feel like he owns me once again. (Thought) I'm never asking that *** bag for anything else in my life.
He already tried to put me in his personal prison for the past two years called a "relationship."
As far as I was concerned, he just thought of me as another investment to look after.
Another trophy on his shelf of personal success ***. (Mom) Fine. But you need to find some other way. Your stressing yourself more then you need too. And your father and I don't like watching are princess work so hard.
(Thought) I still hate it when she calls me that.
Dad always did say she wanted to turn me into another one of those valley girls she grew up with.
But he promised me he wouldn't let that happen.
To him, I was just as capable of proving myself as much of a badass as the guys.
Don't call me that, I'm not your little princess. (Mom) Just call us please and let us know in the next week. Okay?
Fine
Tell dad hi for me, and tell him I love him. (Mom) I will honey, take care of yourself. Love ya.
Love you too. (Hangs up phone)
Ugh! Now I only have an hour and forty-five minutes to sleep.
(Knock on door)
Make that and hour and a half. Who the hell is that?
(Open door) Hello? Can I help you?
(Strange man) uh... hello
I... ah... have your mail here. I saw you hadn't collected it yet, so I figured I would
drop it off on my way up.
Oh, thank you. I must have forgot since I was so tired from class.
I'll be sure to do the same for you next time
(Stranger) Sounds good
uh... have a good night then and stay safe.
You too. (Closes door)
Never seen him before. Then again, I couldn't even
see his face in that *** lighting in the hall.
Still seems like a creeper.
Now for an hour and a half of mindless dreams about working.
Uhh... what time is it?
***! I'm suppose to be at work by ten! (Running sounds)
I wounder if I can catch a cab?
Hmm, not this late, in this part of town. (Thought) Is that the guy from earlier? I think it is.
Better walk faster before I'm even more late.
Is he following me?
Yea, ***. He is defiantly following me.
Alright, don't panic.
Just hurry to work and lock the door behind you, it's only four blocks away.
(Stranger) Hey! Wait!
(Thought) Don't stop, just keep running!
(Stranger) Hey, wait!
(Bus sounds) (Scraping and falling) (Bus horn and tire screech) (Woosh sound) (Thunder and cave drips) (Woosh sound)
(Clock ticking) Ohhhh...
Why does my whole body hurt so bad?
And it's so cold.
Ugh. That was the craziest dream.
Thank god it was all a dream. Felt SO real.
I have never been happier to hear that stupid clock.
Wait... what? Where the hell am I?
That's not my clock.
Oh, my god, my head.
Did I go drinking with Natalie last night?
No. I have never seen this room before.
Oh ***! Where are my clothes?
Where are my clothes?! Did I sleep with someone last night?
What happened last night?
Maybe that wasn't a dream. Maybe...
I was kidnapped? (Covers dragging across the floor)
(Door unlocks) Okay?
Maybe I haven't been kidnapped. Otherwise they would have tied me up and locked the door.
Or they're just was kidnappers ever.
There's not even a shirt around here for me to wear.
(Steps on stairs) (Dragging cloth) Wow! Who ever lives here has an amazing house. The have got antiques that don't even look 2 years old.
(Clock slows down) Hmm. Too bad they don't have a working clock.
(Opening front door) Why didn't they even lock the front door?
I obviously haven't been kidnapped. Or they just really fail at being kidnappers in every
possible way.
(Sigh) Well I may as well look around some more rather then run off.
Plus, I don't really want to go out in public with no clothes on.
Hello? (echo)
Hello?
Damn, these people are loaded.
(Distant voice) Your sure it's a desert? I'm not going to be happy if I go out there in all this *** and it's raining like last time.
(Steps on stairs)(Other distant voice) Yea, yea. I'm sure this time.
The last one only read out as high disturbance.
Didn't say anything about it raining.
How long do I have?
Well, I'm guessing somewhere around ten minutes. Give or take a few five.
Give or take a few five? Why so short?
Hey hey hey! I don't decide the times! That's just what it says.
Max you'll have is twenty minutes.
If you take longer then ten though. (Other male voice) I know I know. You act like I've never done this before.
Well some times...
you act like you
haven't done it before.
Well sometimes you act like my father, even though your not. So, we are even.
Hey watch it.
Let quit wasting time. Otherwise, that poor souls life is going to be the lost cause of are ***.
Like I said, you have ten minutes tops. Twenty minutes max.
Any longer, and I'll drag your wise *** back.
Are you ready?
As ready as I'm going to be? (Machine noises)
(Thought) I've got to get out of... (falling)
(Muffled) Hey, are you alright? You gotta focus for me. Hey, wake up. There ya go. (Clear voices) Let me help you over into the chair.
Let me go upstairs and grab a glass of water.
(Thought) Focus Ally!
You gotta focus in case you need to defend yourself.
Though I don't think I am in danger?
(Steps on stairs) Alright, here you go.
Drink this slowly.
Your lucky you didn't break anything falling down the stairs like that.
I didn't think you would be up fro another three hours or so. And looking at the Oddessy,
probably didn't help.
(Coughing)
Can you tell me your name? (Ally) Ally.
Pleasure to meet you Ally.
As un-fortunate as the circumstances are.
I'm Otto.
Finish drinking that, the I'll take you upstairs to rest more.
(Beeping) Then I can tell you everything. (Beeping)
Cover your eyes with the blanket and don't look at the light.
(Machine noises) *** your quick.
Especially with that girl in your arms. Is she alright?
Yea, she's just a little warn out and dehydrated.
I'm going to go give her an IV.
What happen to her?
She must have made her way downstairs and watch you leave.
She fell down the stairs pretty hard after you left.
Way to break them after I go through the effort to bring them all back?
She hurt anything?
Na, she just has a small gash on her head.
Once your finished with giving her an IV,
Come back down and take her up.
Alright. But wipe the blood off the stairs while you at it.
I don't wanna slip and fall and end up like her.
Fine. Hurry though.
(Mummble) I'm going, I'm going, you old piece of ***.
Hey! Watch your mouth when we have travelers around!
Sorry about that. That was Sem.
He's my...
adopted son, I guess you could say.
More like my close friend actually.
like close friend, actually.
He's a nice guy, he just has a snooty attitude some times.
Do you speak English or
Englic Old and some call it? (Ally) Yea.
Excellent. That makes it easier for the two of us.
Where are you form Ally?
Maryland
Maryland ay?
Is it the thirteen colonies or US?
The.. US... I guess? (Otto) Good.
I guess that is enough confusing questions for now.
Let me go clean this up, then we'll take you upstairs.
(Distant voice) Sem?! Otto?! (Door closes)
(Otto) We're down stairs!
(Steps on stairs) Wow!
What happened here?
A new gal fell down the stairs. She still was a little out of it.
I see. Where's Sem?
He's upstairs taking care of a traveler.
(laugh) Where are my manners?
Ally, this is Leo.
It is very nice to meet you.
Don't worry about getting up. I won't hold it against you since all you have been through.
(Otto) Is there something you needed?
Yea. I've been meaning to talk to you about the situation with the Philo people.
What about them?
It seems they have joined up with the Euros.
Hmmmm... How many does that make now?
Twelve
Not including the ones who are still on the fence. (Otto) Excuse me Ally.
They keep asking me to do something about it before it gets to out of hand.
But I don't know what to tell them. Tell them that it's none of their concern.
We are working on it and time is not something we can rush.
But they are not going to take that answer for very long.
Sooner or later, they are going to have it out with me, and decided I make a better stiff on a poll
then a politician.
(Steps) (Sem) Look what crawled in from the high life.
How you doing Leo?
Not bad, you?
Six feet above dirt is always a good day.
Hey, can you take her upstairs now? (Sem) yea
I told them we only make slow progress.
There is only so much we can do and the machine can only do... (Sem) You alright with me picking you up? (Ally) Yea.
(Leo) No, no, no. They won't listen Otto! They are done listening. (Sem) Sorry I couldn't leave you something to wear.
We should have clothes,
but we are never sure what to expect.
I'll take you to Leeda when you feel more rested.
I'm Sem by the way.
In case Otto didn't tell you.
(Door opens) Thanks. I'm Ally by the way.
Your welcome Ally.
If you need anything, I'll be back to check on you in a few.
Thanks.
You have pretty eyes by the way. (Laugh) Thanks.
You too...
I guess.
Thanks (Sem) Sleep well.
You guess? What the hell is wrong with me?
