This little movie shows the new Genero feature find in lists.
Imagine you're browsing in this list of toy story characters.
You're looking for "Andy". Simply press 'A'.
Here we are. Pressing 'A' again jumps to Andy's Mom.
Next to Aliens. Next to Amber Kroner.
Pressing 'A' again wraps around and jumps to Andy again.
If you're looking for "Tom Hanks", press 'T'. After pressing 'T' multiple times ...
We found Tom.
There is another built in alternative for finding items in lists: Find.
Let's search for Andy again. Press the system specific keyboard shortcut.
A dialog box opens.
Enter Andy and start the search. Press the system specific keyboard shortcut
for find next. The cursor jumps to Andy's Mom and than to
"Young Andy".
You've several options to refine the search. Let's open the find dialog again.
You can limit for example the search to a specific column.
Let's search for "***" in "Artist". We found "*** Smith".
Let's search for "***" in "Character". We found "***".
This new built-in feature does not require any additional line of 4gl-code.
Let's close the application and have look at the source code.
This is the source code of the program running before.
And this is the source code of the form file. Find is available since Genero version 2.40.
