(Interviewer) Talk to me about Dylan Axelrod.
>
Dylan is... Of course he’s a baseball player, and that’s part of who he is.
(TV Announcer) It's Dylan Axelrod – his major league debut. Those numbers are combined Double and Triple A - they’re very impressive.
But he’s also the hometown kid.
He’s the success.
(TV Announcer) Two – two pitch. He gone!
(Steve) A lot of our folks in the Mentor Program idolize these sports stars…
Want to meet them. Want to be like them. Want to have a chance to get their autograph.
With Dylan it’s different because...
he’s a sports star, but he’s also your friend. Somebody that you know.
I think they look at me as their friend, which is important.
I don’t want them to look at me like someone they can’t approach.
They just get so excited about what I’ve done and
you know, I do take that as a big compliment.
I sit back and say, well, you know, that is cool I can bring all this happiness to them.
Dylan has been like a second brother to me.
He genuinely does it because he wants to.
And it’s just really cool to be able... just like, to be able to call Dylan a friend.
(Heather) Dylan loves hanging out with the guys. It’s that energy that rubs off,
and everything else kind of disappears because it’s all about baseball.
This is part of having fun for me. It’s going out to a movie with them,
going to dinner, talking sports. It’s cool to hear all the different things they’re into.
They give me so much. I’m the one who is getting the most out of it.
