So big it takes a team to lift..
This eight-metre long python could slither into the record books - as the longest snake
ever caught.
The lengthy reptile was discovered on a construction sight in Penang, Malaysia last week - with
the countries Civil Defence Department sending staff to catch it.
Unfortunately there are reports the reptile died after laying eggs days after being caught.
But it's legacy may still live on as after being measured and weighed it looks set to
take the Guiness World Record from one called Medusa, who's also a reticulated python.
According to the 2011 edition of the book Medusa is 7.67 metres in length and weights
90 kilograms less than this one in Malaysia.
Reticulated Pythons are named for the patterns on their skin and normally live for about
15-20 years.
They are non-venomous constrictors, so aren't normally considered a danger to human life,
usually eating mammals that are around a quarter of their length.
