In this video we are going to show you how to pack your books, CDs and Videos when preparing
for a house move.
Firstly, have packing paper, packing tape, a marker pen and scissors to hand.
Our book storage boxes are perfect for this job as they are made from fully recycled double
walled cardboard which makes them very strong but not so big as to make them too heavy to lift.
Seal the bottom of the box securely with packing tape, ideally putting a double layer on the
main join, as this will need to support the weight of the box contents when packed.
Always make sure you have a flat surface to work on, and start by lining the box with
a few sheets of packing paper for protection.
Then, taking books of a similar size stack them flat down on the bottom of the box.
Try not to stand them on their sides as it makes them unstable.
For any leatherbound or precious books, you can wrap them carefully in packing paper for
further protection.
It's important to fill the box up to stop the items from getting damaged, and keeping
the box stable
So even if you don't fill it right up, make sure you fill all the space up with crushed
paper, and finally put a few more sheets of packing paper over the top layer of books
before closing.
Always use tape to seal the box instead of folding the lid by crossing over the flaps.
Finally, label up the box with its contents so whoever picks it up knows it contains books
and may be heavy.
You can also use these boxes for CDs and videos and our top tip is always use double walled
cardboard boxes as they are very strong and you'll have no fear of the bottom falling out.
