THAN YESTERDAY.
52 TOMORROW.
BRIGHTER.
WARMER.
LOOKING UP HERE.
TIM?
>>> GOOD NEWS ALL AROUND.
THANK YOU, SVEN.
IT'S A MUSICAL THAT WAS A MAJOR
HIT ON BROADWAY, BECOMING THE
FIRST TO SURPASS 3,000
PERFORMANCES.
WE'RE TALKING ABOUT "FIDDLER ON
THE ROOF."
NOW YOU CAN SEE IT IN YOUR OWN
BACK YARD.
MOLLY SUE MCDONALD IS IN THAT
SHOW, NOW AT THE CHANHASSEN
DINNER THEATER.
YOU ARE THE FIDDLER.
>> I AM.
IT'S ALL ABOUT ME.
>> CAN'T HAVE THE SHOW WITHOUT
YOU, CAN WE?
>> NO.
>> YOU WERE A STANDARD IN THE
THEATER COMMUNITY.
>> I'VE BEEN HERE SINCE THE
1980s.
>> YOU'RE JUST A KID.
HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?
CHILD ACTOR.
YOU'RE PLAYING THE FIDDLER.
FOR THOSE FAMILIAR WITH
"FIDDLER ON THE ROOF," THAT'S
ALL YOU DO.
AND IT'S INTEGRAL TO THE STORY.
>> RIGHT.
THE FIDDLER USUALLY IS JUST
KIND OF A MIME CHARACTER PLAYED
BY A DANCER OR SOMEONE WHO
MOVES WELL.
I PLAY THE VIOLIN, SO THE MUSIC
DIRECTOR AND DIRECTOR SAID
LET'S DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT
AND HAVE A FIDDLER WHO ACTUALLY
PLAYS.
I DON'T SPEAK, I DON'T SING,
AND I'M USUALLY A SINGER OR AN
ACTOR.
>> LET'S TALK ABOUT THAT.
AS SOMEONE WHO NORMALLY DOES
SING AND/OR ACT, WHAT ARE YOU
BRINGING TO THE CHARACTER AS
FIDDLER IN THE PRODUCTION?
>> YOU KNOW, I THINK OF MYSELF
AS KIND OF A SPIRIT, THE SPIRIT
OF THE VILLAGE AND THE SPIRIT
OF, MORE SPECIFICALLY THE
LEADING CHARACTER, KIND OF HIS
INNER VOICE.
AND I APPEAR IN THOSE SCENES
WHERE HE IS STRUGGLING AND
SPEAKING TO GOD AND HE KIND OF
KNOWS WHAT HE WANTS, BUT HE
DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO GET THERE
AND I'M KIND OF LURKING AROUND,
TRYING TO SPIRIT HIM INTO WHAT
HE NEEDS TO KNOW, TO DO.
>> YOU TOUCHED ON SOME OF THE
THINGS NOW, HIS RELATIONSHIP
AND HIS FAITH, WHY IT MAKES
THIS ENDURING POPULARITY IT'S
HAD.
TALK ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR
PRODUCTION, WHAT HAS MADE THIS
ONE SPECIAL FOR YOU?
>> WELL, THE THEATER HAS DONE
THIS NOW FOUR TIMES.
THIS IS THE 20th, NO, THE 45th
ANNIVERSARY --
>> RIGHT, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN
20 YEARS.
>> FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS,
EXACTLY.
SO IT'S REALLY A SPECIAL
PRODUCTION TO BE INVOLVED IN.
THERE ARE PEOPLE I'VE WORKED
WITH A LONG, LONG TIME AGO.
THERE ARE NEW PEOPLE TO THE
SHOW.
AND IT'S A CLASSIC MUSICAL.
THE MUSIC IS INCREDIBLE.
THE STORY IS INCREDIBLE.
IT'S JUST A VERY POWERFUL PIECE
OF MUSICAL THEATER.
>> I'M GUESSING THE CAST IS
PRETTY GOOD, TOO.
>> YES.
>> YOU'RE GOING TO STICK
AROUND.
YOU'RE GOING TO PLAY FOR US
THROUGHOUT THE MORNING.
WE APPRECIATE THAT.
MOLLY SUE MCDONALD WE THANK
YOU.
SHE'LL BE PLAYING FOR US
THROUGHOUT THE MORNING.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE HER
AND THE REST OF THE CAST AT
"FIDDLER ON THE ROOF," IT'S AT
THE CHANHASSEN THEATER.
RIGHT NOW, WE ARE GIVING AWAY A
FAMILY FOUR-PACK, DINNER AND
