Hi. I'm going to show you how to shoot a spherical panorama using an SLR camera, a fisheye lens, and a panoramic tripod head.
This panoramic tripod head, I made, you can make your own or buy one, it doesn't matter, they all do the same thing, which is to...
...rotate the lens around a certain point. So, if you use this, you will have no errors in your panorama. All the pictures will join perfectly.
So with this lens, I need to take 4 shots around. You'll notice I have a tripod and the legs are sticking out.
What I do is I tuck the legs in a little bit, because the lens sees straight down, and this will minimize the tripod legs in the panorama.
The next thing I want to do is make sure the camera is level. So I'll look at this water-level and get it as level as I can.
Now I'll take 4 pictures, 90 degrees apart.
You might have a lens that requires another shot pointing straight up, so then you would go like that -
You might need to duck down a little bit…
That's all. This will give you a fully spherical panorama. I'll upload these pictures to PANOMONKEY.COM and they'll be stitched automatically.
For the exposure, you should be sure to keep the same exposure and white balance for all of your pictures. This will reduce any differences between shot to shot in the final image.
That's all, happy shooting, and good luck! PANOMONKEY.COM
