My name is Brandon Justice. In the studio, I'm referred to as Mr. Justice because I'm
one of the head instructors on the floor. I started Tae Kwon Do when I was 13. Me and
my sister got into it. She was being bullied at school, so I kind of got dragged into Tae
Kwon Do with her, and from there I just started my journey to black belt with her.
We got to the rank of second degree together, and then I got offered a job. Master Dillow
asked me to come over to his studio when I got my second degree black belt. Transferred
from another school that mostly focused on forms and competition, as compared to at the
studio, at Master Dillow's studio, we focus on self-defense, we focus on bullying prevention
and teaching the kids life skills, so that when they grow up, they'll grow up to be the
best that they can be.
I've studied many styles of martial arts. I've done kickboxing, Krav Maga, a variety
of mixed martial arts, and Tae Kwon Do. My favorite one would have to be when we do weapons
in Tae Kwon Do, because it's not just your body that you're using; you're using an extension
of the body. So when I pick up a weapon, it comes natural to me. When I do tricks and
all that with the weapons, it just flows. You can show me a trick one time and I'll
have it picked up right away.
My favorite part about teaching Tae Kwon Do would have to be having the kids grow up and
seeing them grow up as a better person. Knowing that they can protect themselves, but more
importantly, they leave with different life skills, like respect, self-control, discipline,
integrity, and they set goals for the future. It makes me feel more accomplished as a person
than just being in class learning Tae Kwon Do and just teaching Tae Kwon Do. Because
we teach more than Tae Kwon Do; we teach how to be a better person and a better citizen
in our community.
If you're unsure if Tae Kwon Do is the right martial art for you or you don't know if that's
what you want to put your kid or yourself into as an extra activity, just come in and
talk to us. That's the best thing you could do. Just try a class out. See if you like
it or not, and I guarantee that you'll love it the first time you try it.
