Louise: The right of families to make personal healthcare decisions is under attack in South
Dakota. Indeed, that right could be lost, depending what happens with Measure 11 this
November. The results could affect us all. Hi, I'm Louise Melling. I'm the head of the
Reproductive Freedom Project of the American Civil Liberties Union. We all need to be concerned
about what happens with Measure 11. That measure would ban virtually all abortions in South
Dakota, but it would do much more. Its real purpose is to overrule Roe vs. Wade.
South Dakota voters defeated a virtually identical measure just two years ago. They need your
help if they're going to defeat this measure this year. Every woman deserves the opportunity
to make the decision that's best for her and her family, whether that's raising children,
adoption, or abortion. We may not all agree about abortion, but we can agree about one
thing. It's a personal decision. Every family is different. We need to respect the decisions
of others, even if they aren't the same decision we would make.
Help us stop this measure. Go to sdhealthyfamilies.org, find out what you can do, and protect our
right to make these most personal family decisions. Thank you.
