Hi everyone, so here we are taking a quick look at Destiny.
Now this is Activision's last great hope really for a next-gen
franchise which we haven't seen before and
overall Destiny was starting initially to look like a really cool game but
the more I see of it the more I feel, ooh,
it looks a bit bland and boring.
The kind of game mechanics don't really sit very well with me
three player co-op, MMO trappings
it just sounds a little bit like games we've seen before that didn't really work
when
done this way. My main problem I have really with the footage we've seen of Destiny so far
is it just doesn't look like a particularly great game. It looks very boring and bland
like I say.
Limited mission structure etcetera. Overall,
it reminds me of Hellgate London more
than it should do of a next-gen shooter. This kind of idea of having a
central quest hub, going out into the world etcetera, completing quests,
grabbing loot,
coming back etcetera, it all just feels a little bit
like well how do you do an MMO multi-player game but on a console if
Microsoft are being a bit awkward about doing MMOs on consoles at the
time? It doesn't still strike me as being
the next-gen game that many of us I think were initially thinking it would
be.
The graphics style, the art style, everything that kind of sits here makes me
feel
like it's just Halo mark 2 as opposed to
Destiny, a game standing on its own. It's a very strange thing
and for my mind I'm still waiting for Destiny to really wow me, to really
impress me with something that makes me go
must buy this game immediately... take my money.
Not really getting that feel or vibe from Destiny unfortunately.
It just doesn't quite feel right.
Now in part we'll see what the beta looks like and how things hang together
there
but, I don't know, I'm cooling on Destiny just a little bit,
It just doesn't quite feel like the game maybe we were initially expecting.
