Alyssa,
I've got a little surprise for you...
at the 18k mark of the marathon,
and it's gonna make sense
why I wanted to race with you for the whole day today.
I have a little poem for you...
Alyssa, today...
I started this Ironman journey,
trying to keep up with you
and not end up on a hospital-gurney.
I carried with me a precious stone,
to present to you my hon'.
It survived a 3.8km swim,
a 180km ride,
and now an 18km run.
Taped to my body I protected it,
put my life on the line.
Looked after it, as I will you Alyssa,
forever and a time.
Darling, I love you more than life itself
My heart for all to see
out in the open,
on a shelf.
Surrounded by your family and friends,
It's time to get down on my knees,
your ear please lend.
Less than a year ago Alyssa you came into my life.
When I first set eyes on you i knew,
you would be my wife.
Your huge smile lit up my world
I knew I'd hit the jackpot,
scored the world's prettiest girl.
Ironman melbourne! the time has come!
Gritty and grimy, 8 hours of exercise,
we both are numb
But here at the 18k marathon mark,
It is time to say yes
or no to the Shark.
Your correct answer will make me happy with glee,
please my darling girl,
will you marry me?
Yes!
