Hi, I'm Robert Achtemichuk. I'm going to show you how to print a watercolour woodblock.
print, using the materials on this table.
So it being a woodblock we have
woodblocks that have been carved previously both sides
and
this will be result.
We will be using
gouache,
regular
Windsor-Newton gouache
and applying that gouache off the woodblock,
yes they will be wet kind of humid,
with various brushes
and in some cases
some rice paste glue.
And using a baren
to print
rub, lay paper,
rub backside,
to pull the image.
So we are going to print the last two colours for this project.
Adding some brown,
applying it to the woodblock
ochre
I have mentioned previously that
if I add a little bit of
colour, this green
to make it a little bit more spring-like.
I'll be giving a workshop
at the Button Factory in January. Costs are $125 for members
$140 for non-members and there's a $20 supply fee.
Using a few woodblocks you will carve an image and print it using water-based colours and a baren.
First class will be dedicated to preparing the box
and image transfer and sharpening chisels. The second will focus on the printing, the paper and colour preparation.
Et voila!
All the colours of this particular project.
