Hi my name is Carol and I am a registered dental hygienist and I will be speaking on
behalf of Expert Village.com and in this clip we will be talking about braces. Braces aren’t
just something for kids. There are some adults out there that would like braces and there
are several different cases where you may need braces. If you have gapping of the teeth
or if there is also any areas of crowding of the teeth or overlapping of the teeth,
these may be areas where braces would really help out the adult patient. The best thing
to do is go to your general dentist and have an overall examination to check out these
areas and they refer you to the orthodontist who is the specialist in braces. If you don’t
like the look of braces there is also a different treatment options as the clear braces and
the clear plastic retainers which don’t even look like you are wearing braces at all
and these are removable and you get a different set of retainers every two weeks that gradually
moves your teeth back into proper alignment. The main goal of braces is to move your teeth
back into proper exclusion so that your chewing function is better and it is also easier for
you to maintain the areas to help prevent against plaque buildup between any of the
teeth.
