We are a peninsula the sticks out into Lake Ontario. And one of the best things about
the park is because we stick out into the lake we are a bit of a magnet for migrating
birds. And we actually run a couple of different
festivals, the one in spring here, which is the Warblers and Whimbrels Festival, we have it on
the May Long Weekend every year. We call it "Warblers and Whimbrels" because
those are two groups of birds. The warblers represent the songbirds, the
whimbrel is representative of the shorebirds. On our little festival weekend here for warblers
and whimbrels, we have three walks a day looking at the birds and that's a just a chance
for people that would like to learn a little bit more, and go out with a naturalist here
in the park and to learn bird calls and what some of the birds are.
It's a chance to go with somebody with a little bit of experience to help you identify
them; help you to find them. There's lots of opportunity to do something
with us or there's lots of opportunity just to enjoy the park on your own.
And it's just a great place to come and see lots and lots of different types of birds.
