Hey y'all! Today's video is going to be about my favorite red lip products. I get a lot
of questions about how to effortlessly wear a red lip and so I thought I would show you
guys today. I'm also trying out these new false lashes and I'm not sure how I feel about
them yet - false lashes aren't something that I wear all of the time, but I just felt like
throwing them on today. So yeah! Let's get started. Alright, so some basic things that
you'll need to ~*effortlessly~* wear a red lip are your clean-up tools. I like to use
baby wipes, you can also use makeup wipes or a damp washcloth or another thing that
I really like to use - which is a q-tip! You can put a little bit of makeup remover on
this or you can just put some water on it - you can use it dry but it may tug at the
skin and so you might not get a sharp line. Another really good thing to have is concealer.
So if you go outside of your lip line or you sort of smear it on accident, a really good
thing to do is just to take your concealer, put it over the mistake you just made, set
it with powder, and then you're good and you can start all over again. Before you start
a red lip, you really want to have your base. Same thing with foundation - you wanna have
a primer. Having a base when you do a red lip is just going to help it stay on longer,
go on smoother, and just make sure that you have less opportunity for mistakes. So one
of my favorite things to use is this ELF lip primer. One side is a plumper - which I don't
really like to use because I don't really like plumping products but also it smells
heavily of cinnamon and it stings really bad so I wouldn't suggest using that. But there
is a primer on the other side and honestly, you could use concealer on your lips as a
base if you want to, but I find that this isn't as drying as a concealer, so it works
better in that regard. But another classic base is a lip liner, this is the Jordana Easyliner
for Lips in Sedona Red. I love it because it's retractable, it's very creamy but it
completely sets so it doesn't budge, and you could honestly put this on your lips with
a balm over it and that would be really pretty, or you can just use it in the classic way
as a base, and it's just a really good thing to have on hand if you wanna clean up the
lines of your lipstick or just fill in your lips. Now I'm going to talk about my 4 favorite
red lip products and they sort of go from easiest to most difficult to use, but none
of them are difficult to use in my opinion. It's just nice to have sort of "starter" reds
and then be able to move your way up, because as we all know using a red lip product can
be very daunting because it's bold and if you make a mistake you can see it from a mile
away. So I just thought it would be easier to do it this way. The first one I have here
is the Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry. This is around $3.00 and it looks like this, it
has a very strong cherry smell, and I really love it - it's super moisturizing, and it's
good for beginners if you're just wanting to put a little bit of color on your lips
but you're not wanting to commit to a strong lip just yet. *swatching it for you* This
feels really really good on the lips. The next product I want to talk about is MAC's
Viva Glam Cyndi. It looks like this, it has Cyndi Lauper's signature around it. I love
this lipstick because it's a coral red, so it's not as harsh as a classic blue based
red. But you can get this color without the MAC price tag - I know that L'Oreal's Cherry
Tulle lipstick is a dupe for this. So some good things about it are that it's very creamy,
I feel like this is a great starter red because it's coral instead of being a darker red,
I wouldn't really say that it's long lasting though. It lasts about, I wanna say two hours,
before you really need to do anything else to it - before you need to touch it up, which
isn't that great. But I think that's also because it's so creamy, it comes off much
easier. So yeah, I'll just show you what this looks like. *swatches it for you* So that's
that. You can see it's very coral, sort of bright, I would probably wear this more in
the spring if I wanted a red lip. Okay, so this next red lip product is one of my absolute
favorites. It cam really close to beating out the last one that I'm going to show you
- which IS my absolute favorite. I discovered this when it first came out and when I saw
this color I KNEW I had to have it. This is the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in 250 Standout.
It is the most beautiful beautiful blue-based red and it's so convenient because it's in
this stick, so you can take it up, take it down, there's quite a bit of product in it,
it comes with the pointed end so it's easy to put on, and it has the most lovely lovely
minty smell - so when you put it on you almost feel refreshed. And even though it doesn't
claim to be a stain, I find that it stains my lips, so it's super long lasting, it feels
wonderful on the lips, the stick makes it super convenient, and it's around $8 - and
I think for as much product as you're getting and as convenient as it is to use, that price
point is right on. So I'm going to show you how I apply this. *swatches it for you* You
can see how full-color it is just from putting that on, like this is ridiculous. Okay, so
you can see that I've made just a little bit of a mistake right there - maybe you can see
it - it's just not as sharp as I want it to be. So I'm going to show you what I was talking
about earlier. I'm taking this q-tip and dampening it with the baby wipe and I'm just going to
drag it down over the mistake I made. So this is what that looks like. The last red lipstick
that I want to talk to you about is my absolute favorite. I discovered this - I think a year
or two ago - and ever since then I have never looked back. I love trying out different red
lipsticks, but this is the one that I always always come back to - for the color, the quality,
the lasting power, the price point, everything about it is just perfect. This is the Rimmel
London Kate lipstick in 01 and that name is fitting because this lipstick is number 1
in my life, haha. It's around $6.00 and it's creamy, it's full color, it's long lasting,
it's a very true red - it's more of a cherry red than the Revlon ColorBurst is, but I really
like that about it, and although I love the deepness of the matte balm stick that I just
showed you, there's something about this color that I just absolutely love. I'm a really
big fan of the packaging too - I just love that she's signed her name, and it's the color
of the lipstick, there's the little crown on top, and it's all black, I just think that
it's very classic and I just really love that about it. *swatches it for you* Okay, so there
is this one. I think that this is a much more classic, like Old Hollywood sort of red, and
I think that's what I love so much about it - I'm obsessed with Barbra Streisand, Marilyn
Monroe, and Old Hollywood movies, so I have to channel that through my red lip products,
haha. And in case you don't know, some really good tips for making sure you don't have red
lipstick all over your teeth is to take your finger and do this - as you can see, the lipstick
is all over my finger and won't get on my teeth now. You can also put a tissue over
your lipstick and press powder over it to help it set, but I find that to be drying,
you can do the classic blotting method where you just take a tissue and blot some of the
color off. So, yeah! I hope you enjoyed this video and I hope there were some helpful tips
and maybe you can discover a new red lip product that you really want to try out. I'll see
you next time! Bye! :)
