What Causes Migraines?

Dr. Blake, what causes migraines?
You know, the exact reasons why people get a migraine are still not fully explained by
researchers and science. However, from our perspective, as a physician, as well as a
patient, in many ways it doesn't matter.
We have many excellent treatments that can treat the common pathways and really the symptoms
that a patient has. We can treat those and improve their quality of life.
One of the problems that I see is that the average American waits seven years of suffering
from severe migraines before they'll even come in and receive help. To me that's seven
years too many when we have many wonderful therapies that can help relieve someone of
their suffering and improve their quality of life.
So at the end of the day it doesn't matter what's causing them, we can fix them.
