Tiffbits Nº9 - Unearth canadian history

Come on this way everybody! The library has been open to the public - a lot of people don't know this - for 22 years. I've been with the collection for 21 and I'm sure it's because I know where everything is. We have 62,000 film files, 22,000 books, 11,000 films that we can show you in our media booths. Over 625 different titles and magazines and the beauty of it is, it's one topic: film. We have a large Canadian general collection of film materials. We also have 55 different special collections. Atom Egoyan has actually given us one of the biggest special collections, pretty well everything that he's put on paper since he's been 15 years old. These collections are donations from our Canadian industry personalities: David Cronenberg, Deepa Mehta.. People are still giving us brand new materials and making the collection better everyday. It was wonderful. I had no idea what was up here. It's very impressive. I thought it was pretty cool myself because I'm kind of interested in film. What is that experience to actually be able to touch these things or for me to bring out a book that you thought was out of print and you'd never seen in your life? It's exciting. It's the beginning of my day. I still am thrilled to come in here and if you love film, this is the place to be.
