Now, be honest. In your audition this weekend, were you slightly jealous that your son kind
of stole Nicole's attention?
He does it every year. He always steals my limelight, but yeah. I'm not jealous, no.
It's nice to see him get some attention.
He's a cheeky thing. He is a cheeky little boy.
Do you have any plans to get Nicole's undivided attention in the future?
No. No. I don't see... I wouldn't mind, but no.
Actually, it was a little bit controversial after you left the competition last year,
but is everything okay now? Because no one likes tension.
No, I mean... I have no tension. I kind of picked myself up straight after it. I had
a bit... I was on a bit of a downer for a couple of weeks, but I had a lot of support
off people, so that kind of made me feel good about myself.
What did you get up to in that year?
In that year... I got everywhere. I supported The Wanted, Lawson and played some songs at
Grand Prix. I did a number one rock record on the charts and yeah, I've just done loads.
It's been great.
So you didn't chill out? No, no I didn't chill out. I thought I'd just
go full out and just do it.
Now, how are you feeling about the competition? Who do you think are the ones to watch?
There's loads to watch this year, I think.
My favourite probably... I don't know, man. It's hard to say. I like J Koda.
Yeah? The dubstep guy, man. He was cool, he was. Watch out for him because he's moving
and going to catch me in the face or something, but he was awesome he was.
What did you think of the Boot Camp twist this year? They look like they're going to
be pretty exciting. Pretty stressful.
It's just... It's horrible. It really is. You can think you're safe, and all of a sudden
you can be taken at the last minute. So, it's horrible. It's a horrible experience. Because
you feel like you've done. You feel like you're through and it can just easily be taken away
from you so...
Did the judges find it hard?
I think the judges found it hard, but I don't know. I think they probably might get a slight
bit of satisfaction out of it.
I don't know, man. It's almost like they're trying to make you... bring the most of your
emotions out and stuff like really teasing you. Probably um... I don't know. Sharon was
pretty uh, pretty, I don't know, tense.
Was she? Yeah. She can be quite a tough cookie. She can be tough. She was a bit tough for
me, I think.
You've been described as pretty dishy by many women. Okay. How does that make you feel?
That's alright, yeah. I don't mind being described as uh, dishy. It's a bit better than last
year. Well, actually it was the same last year, but I don't know. I need to calm down
a bit this time.
Now you're all about rock music. What's the most rock n' roll thing you've ever done?
Aw, man. Every time they ask me this question, I always come up with a different answer as
well. I don't know.
I assumed you'd have a lot of rock n' roll stories.
Yeah, I have. I played a gig once in my boxer shorts before and got debagged while I was
playing, which was embarrassing. But luckily I had a guitar there, so yeah.
That's pretty rock n' roll.
Yeah, it was pretty rock n' roll actually.
Nude performing. Yeah. Blink 182 style. Yeah, it was pretty cool.
Anything else?
I tell you what I did actually. I was crowd surfing once while playing my guitar and someone
dropped me and I fell and broke my guitar as well and smashed my head on the floor,
which was like rock n' roll, but entirely embarrassing at the same time.
