My name is Rebecca Jackson and I am here at RMA track day at Donington Park to drive a Carrera 4 GTS. My whole life is all about cars, I run a business buying and selling cars. I have travelled 2 hours and a half to get here today which someone not interested in car might think it is a strange thing to do, but actually I am quite happy to travel any sort of distance to drive a fast car on a race track. The idea of a track day is people can bring their road car or their track day car or even their race car to race track and they can go as far as they like. The idea is to stay on the black stuff and avoid the green stuff and they can do things that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to do on the road, so good fun environment. It is very exciting to drive this car in particular because I am a big fan of Porsches so I am very much looking forward to seeing what this one can do on this track. It Is a track that I have actually raced at so if I can polish some of my lines, and turning points, that will be lots of advantages All about being smooth, driving fast and not upsetting the balance of the car, this is Craner Curves and this part of the track is fantastic. I love it, it’s not about how fast you go on the straight line, it is about how fast you go around the corners, perfecting your lines and perfecting your entrance fee and get a good blast and just hear the exhaust and press the loud button… You can hear it! I will never tire of a loud sport exhaust. Obviously, this sport is quite male dominated, there is a lot of banters. Why there are not more race women racing drivers? I don’t know.. .. So perhaps there is something inside the brain saying “don’t take this risk” because when you want to overtake someone and you’re diving down the inside of a corner, it’s a risk, let’s face it! So perhaps that might be the reason, I don’t know. There is obviously something missing in my brain. The brave may not last forever but the cautious do not live at all. The other event I am looking forward to is the Goodwood Festival of Speed and I think it is a quite big event in any motorsport enthusiast’s calendar and the reason for that is because you get so many motorsport greats there I mean Jacky Stuart as well as the new ones to motorsports Lewis Hamilton It really is a big event and I am looking forward to that.
