>> Gloria Countryman: Each township had eight to ten schools.
>> Rory Goff: Right, right.
>> Gloria: And each were there own, autonomy-wise, they had there own little board of directors.
They choose the teachers and...if I described the place I bet you'd...There is a really
beautiful brick home out there with a pond
>> Rory: On the Brookville..
>> Gloria: On the Brookville Road
>> Rory: The pond is on the right side?
>> Gloria: Well, you know where Ticky's Dairy is?
>> Rory: No. I know stuff from the 1850s and the 1870s, unfortunately, I haven't caught
up to the present yet.
>> Gloria: [laughs.] There's a cross-roads just past their house.
You turn right, you go up the gravel there'll be two rises, two hills.
It's on the second hill, on the left-hand side.
>> Rory: I should be able to find it on the 1871 map
since it was built in 1866. They should have it in the neighborhood somewhere.
>> Gloria: Well, I would think so.
>> Gloria: If you're going to talk about Iowa, you take this... but if you want to talk about
North America... So it's all in one. These were published in 1947. So if you look
at Europe and Asia you can see quite a difference from today.
The USSR has all been changed.
>> Rory: It was 1947?
>> Gloria: 1947.
