The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and technology delivers a comprehensive and
interactive education experience. Located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley,
the college is home to a thousand acre working farm that is central to the
hands-on learning experience
students receive. We focus, I think, at Fresno State a large part into
on things that are applicable in the real world. On every study we do, every
class I have taken,
everything is relatable to what's happening in the real world or related
to some part of the industry that
you are going into. Building upon the college's commitment
to provide real-world hands-on education
is the new Jordan Research Center, made possible by a generous gift from the
Jordan family.
The stunning 30,000 square-foot facility will be located
at Barstow and Woodrow Avenues. This location between the academic campus and
university farm
serves as a symbolic bridge between academic research
and practical education. For our students it will create an environment
were they see how research becomes
totally integrated into
terms of the university's life, and what's faculty do,
and how the research so significantly
feeds into the educational program. The Jordan Research Center will feature free-flowing
flexible space designed for interdisciplinary and collaborative
research
Faculty and students from the Jordan College will work alongside colleagues
in the Lyle's College of Engineering and the College of Science & Mathematics.
The 30,000 square-foot building will include wet
and dry labs, lab support space and interdisciplinary areas to foster creative
collaboration
between faculty and students. I think this building is the first of its kind at
Fresno State
and it symbolizes Fresno State's commitment to research, and it's going to
be able to bring together researchers from different disciplines
to work together on solving this region's problems in water and electrics.
The sciences in particular
as well as agricultural engineering are becoming ever more
collaborative and interdisciplinary. We
almost can't answer a question anymore these days without collaborating across
fields and disciplines.
And, so having a center and a space where
disciplines from across campus can come together,
students and faculty to collaborate to solve problems,
to design new things to build new innovations
is a really exciting opportunity for the college.
Designed for flexibility and longevity the Jordan Research Center was developed
to adapt to changing research needs this flexibility is critical
to supporting and deepening Fresno State's close ties
to the agricultural industry. Fresno State is in the middle
of the most important agricultural valley in the world
and having access to key
quality researchers is of up most importance to this organization
and I think that's one of the key reasons why we're going to continue see
our organization fund research through the Jordan College of Agriculture.
The new Jordan Research Center will be the focal point for the collaborative
research that will drive technology
and innovation for years to come. Inside of the building state-of-the-art
laboratories
project spaces and meeting areas the region's greatest minds will enrich our
environment
and unlock the solutions for our greatest challenges.
