We are MPX, an EBX group company, which transforms projects into reality
and is implementing one of the largest energy generating complexes in the country,
with a total capacity of 3,722 megawatts.
This is the area where UTE Parnaíba is being built.
MPX has a participation in eight terrestrial natural gas exploratory blocks in the Parnaíba River Basin, in a partnership with OGX.
Like any other great enterprise, UTE Parnaíba is being boldly and efficiently planned.
A seismic research provided detailed images and defined technically the best area for drilling the exploratory wells.
Drills capable of probing down to five thousand meters will be used.
From the wells, the gas is taken through subterranean pipelines to a treatment unit,
so that we can attend to the technical standards required for its use as fuel.
From the Treatment Unit, it is pumped to UTE Parnaíba, where it will burn in the gas turbines.
The Open Cycle technology will be used for energy generation, passing to a Combined Cycle technology after its efficiency is increased.
In both cases, the air from the environment will be filtered to avoid the entrance of undesirable particles in the gas turbine’s compressor.
Once inside the turbine, the air is compressed and directed toward the combustion chambers,
which are designed to obtain high efficiency in gas combustion, with low emissions of nitrogen oxides.
The result of this combustion is a gas compound with high temperature and pressure and a great amount of energy,
which is transformed into mechanical energy through the turbine’s blades.
These blades spin a shaft which, by its turn, spins the generator’s shaft.
The electrical energy generated by this process follows through to a substation and is then sent to the transmission lines.
Open Cycle technology allows for the reuse of the gas turbine’s exhaust gas, which still holds a significant amount of energy.
With the Combined Cycle, the exhaust gas goes through a Heat Recovery Boiler, being transferred to the water, which is then converted into high pressure steam.
This steam is used to propel a turbine, which transforms the steam’s thermal energy into mechanical energy.
Similarly to the gas turbine, the generator’s shaft, as it turns,
transforms this mechanical energy into electrical energy once again.
The steam that comes out of the steam turbine is condensed by the cooling tower’s water and reused in the Boiler.
The water for reposition is captured in Mearim River and sent to the tower basin.
This water circulates in the system up to four times before being discharged back into the river in perfect state.
Thus, the Combined Cycle guarantees a high efficiency for the thermal plant’s operation.
UTE Parnaíba will be one of the greatest gas generation complexes in the country.
An integration of natural resources and state of the art technology; always respecting the environment and people.
This is our brand.
Our essence.
