Hi I'm Gary Bembridge of Tips For Travellers. I'm going to take you through a
Panorama Suite on board an Avalon Suite Ship. I'm specifically on the Avalon
Imagery II. I stayed in Cabin number 301.
The important thing to note about Avalon suite ships is that their
rooms are bigger than most other river cruise lines. It's up to 30% bigger,
and certainly if you look around as you cruise up and down the rivers of Europe
and take a look at the other river cruise boats, you'll notice that their
rooms are much smaller. There's a couple of important things to note about the
room. The first of all is that the beds face the window, so from your bed you can
look at the magnificent views passing by. And bear in mind if you're cruising
through Europe there's scenery all the way. There are little
quaint towns, churches, monuments castles and all sorts of things to see. So having the
beds point in the windows is a big plus, and very unusual on board most
river cruise lines. The second thing of note is the windows. One of the
things that Avalon suite ships have and the Panorama Suites have is these
massive windows. They stretch basically right across the room from
floor to ceiling. What's very important about them is they open really
wide. They open up to 7 feet wide, so that basically means you have the
outside inside, you have the balcony area and without a balcony so no losing any
space in the cabin. One of the things that they claim, and I think
it's true from all the river cruises that I've been on that the windows
are bigger and they open wider than any other - and certainly it's pretty
magnificent particularly cruising in the middle of summer and having that fresh
air coming in. Another things to note is, because the rooms are quite big you get
quite a lot of space for things like this little seating area table. You get complimentary
bottles of water. Wi-Fi is included throughout the ship and the Wi-Fi was
pretty good on the ship. Obviously it depends on where you are on the river
and the mountains or whatever, but the Wi-Fi is included and you get it within your
room. There's a desk come sort of dressing table area. One whole wall is
mirrored to, of course, give even a bigger sense of space within the room. There is
a minibar within the room, but what's important is the drinks of the minibar
you're charged for. The fare includes wines, beer and soft drinks at lunch and
a dinner but all drinks out of that time
you pay. There is a pretty good amount of storage, lots of drawers, storage
underneath the bed to put your suitcases under and then a cupboard. You
have one cupboard which has the safe and shelves in, then you have another which
is hanging space. Let's take a look at the bathroom. Being a river cruise
ship you're only going to have a shower, but you have a nice basin and
you have complimentary toiletries (which are very nice because they're L'Occitane
toiletries) it is great. You have a walk-in shower which is again a decent size. You
have a nice bathroom. It's quite small. It's quite compact but versus many
other river cruise but it's a pretty good size.
Another great fun thing is every now and then your steward will leave you one of
these rather nice towel animals on your bed. Something to cheer up the day.
It's a pretty nice cabin, as you can see. It's got lots of space, the bed face
the windows, great big windows that open, nice decor and has a nice
feel to it. Pretty contemporary. If you're looking to go on a river cruise and
worried about very small cabins, certainly consider Avalon and
the Panorama Suite. If you're interested in finding more about Avalon, I have a video
about Avalon specifically on what it is what it isn't to help you make up your
mind if it's the right Cruise Line for you, and also I have a full ship tour where
you get to see all the facilities and features that are offer from Avalon. If
you've enjoyed this video, it would be be great if you gave it a "like" and very importantly
also subscribe to the Tips For Travellers channel and you'll get many more videos
with inspiration, tips and advice about river cruising and other topics.
