A long-time central and local government official has been tapped to head Korea's Ministry of
Security and Public Administration. The presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae says
Kang Byung-kyu , the former vice minister of public administration and security during
the Lee Myung-bak administration, was nominated to succeed former minister Yoo Jeong-bok .
Yoo resigned earlier this week to run for the Incheon city mayoral post in the June
local elections. The presidential office says Kang's knowledge
and experience from decades-long public service was highly noted for his nomination.
Kang's appointment will be made official after a parliamentary hearing.
