This year’s freshman class got an extra special treat during Illinois Sights and Sounds.
Starting what they hope to be a new tradition, dining services broke the Guinness Book of
World Records for largest smoothie.
We want to create an overall positive experience for our students and it is an experience that
is not only in the classroom but on campus and being part of their campus community and
this is just another to make their experience here on campus memorable.
Illinois set the record at 330 gallons, breaking the previous record of 264 gallons. Over 1,600
pounds of strawberries, yogurt and pineapple juice were used to make the smoothie.
What does it take to break a world record? Well, dedication. Its, um, its something that
is unusual. You really have to have a strong ability and desire to push through and achieve
something extraordinary.
The team here at the University of Illinois have done the same thing. The crew have worked
incredibly hard to make sure that the ingredients, the measuring devices and all the equipment
is going to allow them to get as close as they can to breaking this record.
Of course, making the smoothie taste good is almost as important as breaking the size
record.
Well, it better taste delicious after all this work we put into it.
It smells really good so I’m excited. I think it will be very good.
