Pablo Kaloustian
"The human drum machine"
Matías Martin: Here in TED we don't only have
science, showbusiness, sports, journalism speakers;
we also have artists.
Hold on a bit.
Could you hold on a little bit?
He's a bit anxious.
He wants me to introduce the artists.
They have that thing.
Pablo...
I want to introduce a person who embraced a full passion for drums
since he was a little boy.
This guy's been a total drumming fan since he was born.
Pablo, hey!
Security, security, security!
Could you take the drums off his hands?
He's a drums fanatic since he was born.
Really really fanatic.
And that's why I want to introduce you to Pablo, our 'beatbox', on drums.
(Applause)
Thanks. My name is Pablo Kaloustian
and I've done this since I was a little boy, at school many years ago.
I started playing, and it was always a game.
The parts of the body I use to sing to the drums are:
diaphragm, vocal chords, teeth, tongue, saliva and nose.
And a little teeth I've got here, a bit crooked, that no dentist's had the courage to correct
because they said I would lose my superpowers. (Laughter)
The message I want to give goes to those
who like onomatopoeic sounds
and is: have the courage to do it.
Don't be embarrassed whether you sound good or bad.
Because it's terrific.
I started playing as a boy
and today I keep doing it professionally
Thank you.
(Applause)
