Wall Street the capital of finance has Senegalese businessmen that work there
That is the case of Serigne Diouck; professor and businessman in the Financial District
that know it very well for working there
for ten years
he is among the Senegalese that are well integrated in
American soil. Our reporter Abibou Mbaye met him
In Downtown Manhattan, where the last blocs of glass and steel
of the New World Trade Center rising up slowly,
the 541 meters ;
not far from there , the most expensive street in the world: WALL STREET a real
touristic attraction
for the economists it is the Mecca of the World of finance because it hosts
the most important Stock Market in the world
the New York Stock Exchange
it is not unusual to meet senegalese in that area where
speculators and traders sell and buy shares, so around a coffee shop
a man on the phone caught our attention
when he was going to work
looking like a basketball player, a briefcase hand made, African style made in Senegal
He started his first job in the financial world at JP Morgan Chase
where he worked for the 10 of his 23 years in the US. He knows
his way around Wall Street
it is something that the Senegalese companies should take advantage of
because
it can give them access to lot of funds
for the expansion of their business
not only in Senegal but also around
Africa
often companies around the world come to Wall Street
to have
access to millions of dollars
or sometime even billions of dollars. The New York Stock Exchange and
Nasdaq
are different type of market because the Nasdaq is where
companies can sell their shares through
brokers that can trade
there
as an investor such as myself, I have
to contact my broker
to trade for me
At the Nasdaq the dealers are connected electronically
however the New York Stock exchange
is hybrid
because you have the physical and electronic part
it is larger than the Nasdaq
and more expensive for companies to be listed
.
After leaving the prestigious Chase Bank
Serigne Diouck started his own businesses
but still has strong ties with Wall Street where he is
promoting the empowerment of young leaders and the art and craft from Senegal
with the technologies young Senegalese can work remotely
because we are doing it with other youngsters from
other countries such as India
in addition Senegalese people are very smart. If a senegalese want to by share from citigroup
he can contact a broker
to buy shares
from Citibank or Apple ; it is open to the public
They can also create companies and sell their shares
in Wall Street
why not! America is the land of opportunities
In a country where everything is possible, Serigne Diouck teaches economy,
finance and International business
at The City University of New York
He want to develop a strong network of young leaders
in their field of expertise such as former students
to maximize the chances of Senegalese projects that can get investors from Wall Street
which always keep the image of George Washington in this place
where he sworn in April 30th 1789 as the first
President of the USA
Serigne Diouck a Senegalese that is well integrated in the US
works
at Wall Street.
