I haven't made this kind of video blogs where I tell you about my experiences in a while...
I think it was time. WARNING: I have never worked with students under the age of consent. STOP ***. STOP CHILDREN ABUSE.
Hi everyone! Welcome. So, the other day I was talking
to my sister.
It was one of those deep, meaningful, existential conversations.
She asked me if I ever had a crush
on a teacher.
This reminded me of a friend of mine, Nati, from Chile, to whom I send a big kiss.
I haven't forgotten you!
She told me
she had a crush on her dance coach.
That it was very difficult and she ended telling her about it.
So my sister told me she had experienced that too.
My answer to her question was that it hadn't happened to me. One: because in high school I was
very naive and proper to see teachers as potential lovers.
Then at university
I had professors who were much older than me
and who didn't inspire me anything at all,
not even
professional admiration.
I don't mean to devalue these men's work though.
So, after giving a careful thought on my sister's question I realized I had actually experienced that.
A couple of times, actually.
But in a different situation: as some of you already know, I'm a teacher.
And I had a crush on a student or two (THEY WERE OVER THE AGE OF CONSENT).
But the things stopped right there.
I only found them attractive.
Because for me -and I think everyone else
should feel the same about it-
Ethics are more important.
I know it's not correct, because there is a professional relationship involved
and when you are a teacher you have certain "power" on your students
so you are not in the correct place to start a
sentimental relationship. We know there are
professors who ask
"favors" to their students to get a good grade.
That is not good at all.
You are supposed to
be more mature than your students, we are supposed to be
a role model,
at least within the borders of where you work.
But I don't know if it is more difficult for a student
to have a crush on his teacher or for a teacher to have a crush on his student.
I don't know what else I can tell you. You guys tell me if you have experienced it.
If you did something about it.
So, if you liked this video you already know what to do.
See you guys next week. By the way,
next week I will be on QueerVlog.
It's next Friday so don't forget to tune in.
Tune in? It's not TV! ('Sintonizar' = 'tune in' in Spanish is used only for TV or radio).
See you! I love you guys! Bye!
I finally got a haircut.
