Ever the picture of grace and elegance, First Lady Melania Trump has often evoked images of another former first lady, elegant in her own right, that of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. A former fashion model, Melania has remained the subject of global headlines following her brief departure from the public eye following an unexpected kidney surgery. A recent picture of Melania as she returns to the public eye taken by Doug Mills of the New York Times captures the immense pressure she is under daily. The photo of the First Lady depicts Melania watching her husband President Donald Trump as he meets with Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, the Monarchs of Spain in the Oval Office. The photo went viral as many people pointed out how indicative it was of the fishbowl that is Melania’s current life. The insane number of photographers and journalists hovering over her capturing every twitch and sigh she makes, quite literally waiting for her to mess up or fail in some way. Living what many would describe as a terrifying life, it is all portrayed by this one incredible photograph as it depicts the insanity of the scrutiny of a public figure. One man tweeted that the press should not be allowed so close. He tweeted – “They really should not be allowed to get that close while she is sitting.. I don’t care if they have journalism degrees.. Personal space should be observed as a right of decorum.” Yet others made comparisons between Melania and Princess Diana. Princess Diana, known as the “People’s Princess” became the “most hunted person of the modern age” as the press pursued her even to her d***h. It was while being pursued by paparazzi that Diana, Dodi Fayed – the son of then owner of Harrods, Mohammed al-Fayed – with whom she was in a relationship, and driver Henri Paul all died during in a car crash in Paris running from paparazzi. At Diana’s funeral, her brother Charles Spencer stated – “It is a point to remember that of all the ironies about Diana, perhaps the greatest was this – a girl given the name of the ancient goddess of hunting was, in the end, the most hunted person of the modern age.” Melania is famously private, the first foreign-born first lady since Louisa Adams, wife of former president, John Quincy Adams. She is also the only first lady to be born and raised in a communist country. And according to the Washington Post, the most “linguistically gifted” first lady, fluent in four languages in addition to her own native Slovenian. In 1999, when she was still dating Donald Trump and he was considering a presidential bid, Melania described how she envisioned the role – ”I would be very traditional. Like Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy. I would support him,” she told the New York Times. When Donald announced his candidacy, Melania made it clear she was not going to be a part of the campaign. She told Harper’s Bazaar – “I’m choosing not to go political in public because that is my husband’s job. I’m very political in private life, and between me and my husband, I know everything that is going on. I follow from A to Z, but I chose not to be on the campaign. I made that choice. I have my own mind. I am my own person, and I think my husband likes that about me.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ◆ Latest news videos: ****** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ★ CONNECT WITH US ★ ◆ Google : ****** ◆ Email: ****** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Videos can use content-based copyright law contains reasonable use Fair Use (******
