Monaco Royal wedding celebrated. A ceremony for the marriage of Monaco's reigning prince,
His Serene Highness Albert II, to former Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock of South Africa
was held on Friday, July 1, amidst close family members and friends in the Throne Room of
Monaco’s Royal Palace, as crowds cheered outside. The joyful event was followed by
a Roman Catholic wedding and gala event in the principality's Palace Courtyard on Saturday,
attended by some 3,500 distinguished guests. Among those present were the kings of Spain,
Sweden, Lesotho and Belgium as well as the presidents of France, Iceland, Ireland, Lebanon,
Malta, Germany, and Hungary.
