Hello, I’m Louis Ortiz on behalf of Expert Village and today I’m going to show you
how to clean an onion. I’m actually going to use a sintoku knife that I like to use
it’s got a blunt end, it’s a little bit different than the traditional chef knife
I like these just because they’re a little bit more balanced and without having a point
they’re a little less dangerous. So this is the root end of the onion and this is the
top in that sense, so we’re going to take the top off first I’m just taking a little
bit of that off, we’re going to have to remove the skin so we’ve exposed the actual
onion. So I’m just going to make a cut along the edge of this guy toward the root end and
I cut just enough so that I’ll be able to peel the first couple of layers of skin off
and expose the rest of the onion for cutting, simply peel all the skins off and now we’re
ready to start making some other cuts. So that’s just the basic two or three substance
you need just to clean an onion.
