How to Replace You Pc Hard Drive

Hi! I'm Danny from PC Paramedics and today I'll be showing you how to change your hard drive inside a traditional tower pc. There are two main different types of hard drives that are on the market today. One called IDE , which has a series of pins on one end, and a different type called SATA, which has a long stick of pins within a row. Okay? The main type at the moment at modern PC's is currently called SATA. IDE is the other type. Okay, inside my pc, I'm going to take the cover off and insert my new hard drive. A hard drive is where all your information is saved onto and is the only part of the pc which contains any data. The type of connection in my pc today is a newer type, which is SATA. We have two cables to plug in our SATA drive: one, which is usually red for the communication and one for the power. The power will only go into one socket, one way up and again the communication cable will only go one way up as well. Once sockets are both plugged in, I will clip in and then you can insert into the provided bay inside your computer. In some computers, these are located at top, and in some computers, it's allocated at the bottom. Once SATA is gone in, you might need to screw the hard drive in, in order to secure it. In this one, I have two screw holes to secure this particular drive. Once screwed in, the computer is now ready to turn on. If it is a new hard drive, you will need to reinstall your Windows, before you'll be able to boot up. If it is an existing hard drive, which you've taken out to copy data from, then it is ready to boot up to Windows. That's how to change your hard drive in your traditional tower computer. .
