We're here today to talk about doing tracks that sound like a band's playing in the studio.
I don't have a tape based system here, and so I'm doing it all in the box. Basically
what you're hearing there is a lot of MIDI tracks with some live tracks as well. I want
to have a little fill going in. MPEG SVX cabinet which is, had an awesome sound to it. I don't
want to make it sound like a robot, but I want to it to sound like a really good player
is playing it together. Sort of emulates the sound of a bass recorded in a booth. If you're
a keyboard player, I would say buy an electric guitar and learn to play basic stuff on it.
If I have a note here or there that's out, I can move it. Okay, so this one's out, I
need to move this one back a little back. People often say, "Well, so what do you do?
Do you write and then you track and then you mix, is that your approach?" And it's, that's
not how I do it. It's all done at the same time.
