It was hangin' in the closet when I went to clear his things
The jacket he had worn through many winter and in the spring
I reached into the pocket, and there I found a nail
I reminder he had left from all the houses he had built
I put the jacket, on and I began to feel this song
And then I swear
He was there
In the jacket
My whole body started shakin'. My head was spinnin' round.
A chill was on my skin. My heart began to pound.
I reached and pulled the zipper up. Heard that song again.
Tellin' me the only freedom's through redemption in the end.
And I held onto that nail, and faced the demons that I felt.
And I said a prayer
He was there
In the Jacket
Well the years have rolled away. And I'm ready to go home.
I open up the closet and put the jacket on
I reach into the pocket. The nail is in my hand.
And I'm waintin' on the spirit. And the coming of the man.
I slowly close my eyes. And my salvation's on the rise.
Then I swear
I can feel him there
In the jacket
Well it's tattered and it's torn. But there's a healing that it brings.
The jacket that my granpa wore
It's a coat fit for a king
