We've gone through a lot of changes in the last four years
[Before the program my biggest concern was that] We've gone through a lot of changes
in the last four years and there's a lot more change to come to the industry. While we have
been moving along, [it's important] to always look into the future at the changes that will
happen, to make sure we can change and innovate with the right speed to stay in the market
place. Better understanding of outside the normal,
obvious-way-to-fix-things innovation. I think there's a better understanding of
what innovation can be outside the, normal obvious-way-to fix-things innovation. We have
found how it's more relevant, what it can be, it's given us a structured way to implement
it at all levels of the business. And what I've just asked Bob to do is to bring up our
normal management tool and you would see how it actually feeds quite well into our business
plan that we are supposed to go on. Innovation will help us meet our business
improvement targets I do think, (and you probably saw it a bit,
especially from Lindsay), we got a better understanding of how it [innovation] meets
some of the business improvement targets - meeting and sustaining our sales growth forecasts.
How to go about that, and not just him alone, but how to get the company behind him.
Yes! I would recommend it! Yes! What I would like to probably say is
we weren't quite clear of exactly what it [the innovation program] was about. I think
at the start ... it could've been clearer what it was and how it was going to align
so it fitted into the company [Editors note: a 3rd party handled the communication and
booked the program for Trident - looks like some of the communication was less than optimal.
When you deal with us directly, the pre-programme communication is excellent].
You might have thought that maybe I came from a few odd angles but it was actually to make
sure it fitted where we want to go and how we, could easily introduce it. And you will
see that better when I bring up the management tool - how we manage things here. I will show
that to you in a minute. I suppose, probably a little bit of an apology
about (that), it's very busy here now and we could probably give it a little bit more
time and attention that we have, right?
