Welcome to an overview of the 2012-13 RIMS-BTSA Virtual Support Provider Training
The purpose of these trainings is to provide support providers who have already been through
the RIMS-BTSA Support Provider Trainings with professional development that will assist
them in supporting their participating teachers. The virtual nature of these sessions will
allow for flexibility and opportunities for collaboration and reflection
We’ll revisit several resources throughout the year and connect them to the support you
provide your participating teacher Resources will also connect to the inquiry
support sessions: professional development designed specifically to address application
of the inquiry process A crucial role of the support provider is
mentoring. We’ll take a look at how you can increase your mentoring skills as you
build your participating teacher’s capacity to implement the inquiry process through the
plan, teach, reflect, and apply cycle Throughout the year, we’ll also look at
changes and additions to the program, from new mentoring resources and process changes
to additional video tutorials A virtual support provider training requires
participants to interact through Haiku, an electronic learning management system. Support
providers will engage in discussions, reading, watching videos, and post reflective prompts
related to the work they do with their participating teacher
Look for an e-mail indicating how you can get started with Haiku, the on-line learning
management system that will allow you to participate in the RIMS-BTSA Virtual Support Provider
Training. We’ll provide a video tutorial to walk you through it and get you ready to
go
