Kia ora. Welcome to the Victoria University Library here in Kelburn. Let me show you around.
The Kelburn Library is located in the Rankine Brown Building and occupies all floors except
Level 8.
Entrance to the Library is on Level 2 of the building.
You can look up our hours on the Library website.
The Issue Desk is on level 2.
This is where you can issue and return books.
You can also come here for any questions you may have about the Library.
You can collect any requests you make here.
To the right of the Issue desk we have the Closed Reserve Collection and the Careers
& Financial Support Help Desk.
At Victoria your ID card is also your photocopying card.
There are photocopiers on Level 0, 2, 3 and 6.
Printing and photocopying are paid from the same account.
You can top up at the DOCUPOS machines on Level 2 or at the Library Issue Desk with
cash.
To the left of the Issue Desk is our Maori and Pacific collection called Te Taratara
a Kae.
Here we have the Student Learning Support Help Desk.
They will help you with your essays and your assignments.
On the other side we have the reference desk.
They will help you with any sort of research that you need.
On level 2 and level 1 are the ITS computers that you can use.
There are lifts and stairs at each end of the building and external stairs from Level
2 to level 4.
The three day loan collection is on Level 3 and the rest of the collection is on other
floors.
Please look at the Library directory beside every lift to find which call mark is on what
floor.
There are study rooms located on most floors.
You can book them online at the Library website.
The Library is divided into two zones – blue and green.
Blue zones are for quiet individual study and green zones are for group study and conversation.
Rankine Brown is undergoing major construction work as part of the new Campus Hub so you
will find things changing often in the next year.
Please keep checking the Library website, screens and whiteboard for current updates.
Thanks for taking the tour.
For more information please check our website.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
